East End - Long Island was hit with a March snowstorm that roared in like a lion Sunday night through Monday, blanketing some areas of the East End with more than 13 inches of snow. Schools and government offices were closed to allow snow removers to plow the roadways. Numerous flights were suspended at area airports and officials urged residents to stay home and off the roadways. A state of emergency was declared earlier in the day. This winter wonderland just 18 days before the official start of Spring caught many by surprise with its ferocity. Photos by Joe Strand, Eileen Casey and Aaron Boyd |
