Merlot is arguably the most important grape grown on the North Fork. The conditions are favorable to producing a balanced, rich and complex wine.
Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack is pleased to announce the official date of their annual Wölffer Estate Harvest Party on Sunday, Oct. 11. One of the most anticipated events on the fall Hamptons' social calendar, guests of all ages are invited to partake in harvest fun, and share the bounty and beauty of the season at Wölffer Estate.
The Long Island Merlot Alliance proudly welcomes Louisa Thomas Hargrave as an honorary member of the Alliance. She is the first wine professional to be admitted as an individual.
Now with Castello di Borghese on board, the Long Island Merlot Alliance includes seven quality wine producers.
Wölffer Estate Vineyard will release the 2005 "Christian's Cuvée" Merlot, a proprietary Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc dedicated to the memory of the estate's visionary founder, Christian Wölffer, on Aug. 3. A pioneer in Long Island winemaking, Wölffer died Dec. 31, 2008 just months after the winery's celebration of its 20th Anniversary.
While there is Vouvray, there is also VOUVRAY, which in the hands of top producers can reach the same heights, complexity and ageworthiness as top white Burgundy.
The image will adorn a limited release of the wine (350 cases only) perfect for art and wine aficionados. The 2005 Gewürztraminer will be available for $25 per 750ml bottle beginning Memorial Day 2006 just in time to kick off the summer season and celebrations.
One of the better California vintages in recent memory, 2001, was a phenomenal year for Cabernet Sauvignons. Many of them are no longer available.
The new millennium has been kind to New World wines, especially those from Australia. Australia keeps producing big, juicy, and fruit-forward Shiraz and Cabernets that Americans love to drink and they come with fairly low prices.
We LOVE Spanish wines. As with the warm and charming people of Spain — Spanish wines are very easy to like.
The following selection of California classics is designed to help make your next party, meal, or informal gathering a big success.
The high quality of these wines, coupled with their budget-friendly price tags, makes them perfect choices for everyday meals and case purchase — so that your cellar is stocked for winter.
One of the great things about Winter is that you get to indulge in all those rich, full-flavored dishes that help stave off the cold weather. Few wines enhance a robust, red meat dish more than a great Cabernet Sauvignon.
There is no need to brave the elements to purchase these lush Aussies filled with flavor and gusto. They will keep you warm during cold winter nights when paired with hearty fare.
The New Year is here, and along with it, Winter's chill. To help warm you up we offer a half-dozen hearty, full-flavored Australian red wines. They will pair beautifully with warming Winter fare like venison, stews, osso bucco, and grilled or roasted red meats.
