worth cocktails are the perfect thing to be sipping on while watching the Emmy's on Sunday. For those of you throwing Emmy viewing parties in the Hamptons' here are some drink recipes inspired by the Emmys and shows nominated.
1. Big Bang Theory Rum Refresher:
You don't need to be physicists like Leonard and Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory
to make this refreshing cocktail.
• 2oz. Atlantico Reserva
• 1/2 oz. Fresh Strawberry Juice
• 1/2 oz. Agave
Stir ingredients, add a strawberry to garnish and a splash of Sparking mineral water.
2. Cointreau's Golden Emmy:
This cocktail is worthy of an Emmy is the perfect drink to sip while watching who wins.
• 2 oz. Remy Martin VSOP
• 1 oz. Cointreau
• 0.5 oz. Lemon juice
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled martini
Strain into a sugar rimmed Martini glass.
3. Martini Showtime Sparkler:
Cheers to Showtime, who with 22 nominations they have good chance of coming away with a sparkling Emmy.
• 2 parts Martini Asti
• 1 part Martini
• Bianco vermouth
Pour over ice in a rocks glass.
4. Cointreau Californication:
Inspired by former Emmy winner Californication this drink is simple yet sophisticated.
• 2 oz. Gin
• 1oz. Cointreau
• 0.5oz. Fresh lemon juice
Shake with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
5. The Desperate Housewife Desperate Housewives
may have ended but they will always be a fan favorite, this Desperate Housewives inspired drink is bound to be a fan favorite as well.
• 2 oz. Molinari Sambuca Extra
• 1 oz. Lemon juice
• 1 1/2 oz. Sparkling water Granny Smith
• Fresh basil (12 leaves)
• Fresh ginger
Mash all the ingredients in the cocktail shaker and then add Molinari Extra and shake well with crushed ice. Filter twice, pour into a margarita glass and top with sparkling water.
6. Basil Hayden's Living Shadow:
While this drink was inspired by American Horror Story their is no horror in drinking this delicious drink.
• 2 parts Basil Hayden's Bourbon
• 3/4 parts Simple Syrup
• 3/4 parts Lemon Juice
• 5 Grapes
• Red Wine
Muddle grapes in a mixing glass. Add remaining ingredients with ice and shake. Strain into a martini glass. Gently pour a few drops of red wine over the back end of a bar spoon while touching the inside rim of the martini glass to create the red wine float.
7. Over 30 Rocks
Inspired by 30 Rock
, this is a cocktail Liz Lemon would approve.
• 2 oz. Ron Abuelo
• Juice of 1/2 lime
• 1 Teaspoon Maraschino liqueur
• 1 Teaspoon Grapefruit juice
Shake with ice, and then strain over crushed ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
8. Sparkling Emmy:
Sip on something sparking while taking in the stars sparkling in their Emmy dresses.
• 1 ½ oz. Gin
• Juice of half a lemon
• Dash blackberry liqueur (Chambord can be substituted)
• 1 oz. Cascal
Berry Casis Soda
Add gin and lemon juice over crushed ice, in a Rocks glass. Stir, then pour over blackberry liqueur. Stir, then top off with Cascal Cassis berry Soda. Garnish with a lemon twist.
9. Cruzan Countdown Punch:
Perfect for those hosting Emmy parties sip on this cocktail created by Cruzan Mixologist Jesse Card
while watching what the celebs are wearing during the pre-shows.
• 1 part Cruzan Mango Rum
• 1 part Cruzan Aged Light Rum
• 1/2 part Cruzan Orange Rum
• 1/2 part Fresh Lime Juice
• 3 parts Sparkling Wine
• Orange Peel Ice Block (see additional recipe below)
• Mint Sprigs
Combine rum and lime juice in a punch bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour. When you're ready to serve, add orange peel ice block and top with sparkling wine. Pour into a champagne flute and garnish with a mint sprig.
Directions Orange Peel Ice Block:
Fill a small Tupperware container with water and put in the freezer until the top of the water begins to freeze over (approximately 20 minutes). When the top is thinly frozen, cut long twists of orange peel and add them to the water by cracking the top of the ice on one side. Put back into the freezer until frozen solid.
10. Basil Hayden's Bees Knees:
This drink was inspired by Boardwalk Empire
which takes during prohibition
, so take a sip and enjoy.
• 2 Parts Basil Hayden's Bourbon
• 3/4 Parts Fresh Lemon Juice
• 1/2 Part Honey
• 1 Slice Fresh Ginger
Muddle ginger in a mixing glass. Add remaining ingredients with ice and shake. Strain into a rocks glass. Garnish with basil leaf.
