Top Five Father's Day Cocktail Recipes

Southampton - Celebrate Father's Day by making your dad one of these delicious drink recipes.

1. You can't go wrong with a classic Manhattan.

Manhattan
 • 2 ½ parts Dewar's 18-Year Old Scotch whiskey
 • ¾ parts Martini Rosso
 • 1 dash Angostura bitters
 • 1 maraschino cherry
 • 1 twist orange peel

Combine the Martini Rosso, Dewar's 18, and angostura bitters with 2 or 3 ice cubes in a mixing glass. Stir gently. Place the cherry in a chilled cocktail glass and strain the whiskey mixture over the cherry.

2: For a refreshing cocktail with good depth in flavor try the Sparkling Bramble.

Sparkling Bramble
Ingredients:
 • 1 ½ oz gin
 • Juice of half a lemon
 • Dash of blackberry liqueur
 • 1 oz Cascal Berry Cassis Soft Drink

Add gin and lemon juice over crushed ice in a glass. Stir and then pour over blackberry liqueur. Stir and then top off with Cascal Berry Cassis. Garnish with a lemon twist.


3. For an innovative cocktail that's ideal for summertime relaxation in the Hamptons, the Dewar's Smash which is available at Spring Close Restaurant is perfect for the dad who wants to add a fun, celebratory twist to his favorite Scotch whisky.

Dewar's Smash
 • 2 parts Dewar's White Label Blended Scotch Whisky
 • 1-2 mixing spoons granulated sugar or ¾ parts simple syrup
 • 2 wedges of lemon
 • 3-4 fresh mint sprigs
 • Seltzer

Muddle the lemon, fresh mint leaves and sugar in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add Dewar's White Label, shake and strain into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice. Top with seltzer and garnish with fresh mint leaves.

4. For dad's who like their whiskey straight try Yamazaki 12 Year Single Malt Whisky ($55) for a twist. The first and original Japanese whisky, this medium-bodied single malt has a delicate, mellow taste, a woody, dry finish and notes of dried fruit and honey. Or if dad wants something more tradition try Wild Turkey 101 ($21). Wild Turkey is America's best-selling, super-premium bourbon produced by Master Distiller Jimmy Russell. Although this is for a serious whisky drinker with its 101 proof, dad might want to call it an early night. Both are available at the Sag Harbor Liquor Stor (52 Main Street).
