Southampton - With the impending holidays, everyone is checking their recipe cards and comparing turkeys and whatnot. Sure, the food aspect is important, but really, what is a holiday without cocktails?
Mount Gay Rum is working with famed mixologist and drink historian
David Wondrich, who has created a slew of great cocktails for the holidays and beyond. Try the Mount Gay Trident, which combines the cask-aged, smooth flavor of the Mount Gay Rum Extra Old ($49.99) with coffee liqueur and sweet condensed milk. Together, the ingredients make for an utterly delectable cocktail, easy to make and a fantastic treat to serve.
Mount Gay Trident
Neptune's trident holds the center of the Barbadian flag, as is fitting for an island with such a long and rich maritime history. For this dessert drink, combine Mount Gay Eclipse rum, coffee liqueur and, instead of cream, sweetened condensed milk. It might be a bit sticky on its own, but it makes for a rich, creamy and utterly irresistible cocktail (Note: only use a brand that contains nothing more than milk and sugar).
• 1 ˝ oz. Mount Gay Rum Extra Old
• ˝ oz. Coffee Liqueur
• 1 oz. Sweetened Condensed Milk
Add ingredients to a shaker and shake well with cracked ice. Strain into chilled glass and grate nutmeg over the top.
