Maker's Mark: Whiskey Recipes For A 'Real Cocktail'

Blue Grass Cocktail. (Maker's Mark)

Southampton - With the dog days of summer upon us, Maker's Mark has offered us some recipes to enjoy during those sunset evenings when perhaps a light jacket might be needed.

So for those who enjoy a 'real cocktail' try a few (or all) of the recipes below, and enjoy now or any time of the year!

Blue Grass Cocktail
 • 2 oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • 1 oz. pineapple juice
 • 1 oz. fresh lemon juice
 • 1 tsp. maraschino liqueur

Combine in a shaker and shake well. Serve over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple.

Whisky Smash
 • 2 pieces lemons
 • 2 - 3 mint leaves
 • ¾ oz. simple syrup
 • 1 ½ oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • 1 oz. water

Muddle lemon and mint in a rocks glass or similar size cup. Pack with ice and add simple syrup, Maker's Mark and water. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Maker's Mark Spiced Cocoa
 • 1 c. milk
 • 1 tsp. hot chocolate mix
 • 1 tsp. Coffee creamer
 • 1 tsp. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky

Whiskey Smah.

For each person heat a cup of milk to steaming. Remove from heat before bubbles begin to form around edge of saucepan. Into a mug measure hot chocolate mix, creamer and bourbon. Add hot milk; and stir until well mixed. Recipe can be easily increased to serve any number of people.

Maker's Mark Sidecar
 • 2 oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • .5 oz. Cointreau
 • 2 oz. Sweet and Sour

Mix ingredients into a shaker tin with ice and shake until cold. Strain into a chilled, sugar rimmed cocktail glass.

Maker's Mark Old Fashioned
 • 1 ½ oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • ½ oz. club soda
 • 1 orange slice
 • 1 tsp. sugar
 • 2 cherries

Muddle orange slice, one cherry and sugar in old fashioned glass. Fill glass ¾ full with cracked ice. Add Maker's mark and soda. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Bourbon Daisy.

Maker's Vanilla Float
 • 1.5 oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • ½ teaspoon Madagascar vanilla bean paste
 • 2 oz. Cola

Mix Maker's and vanilla paste in a shaker tin with ice. Shake briefly to combine and pour into a highball glass. Top with cola and a dollop of whipped cream.

Maker's Manhattan
 • 2 oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • .75 oz. Sweet Vermouth
 • Drop of Angostura bitters

Mix all ingredients in a shaker tin with ice and shake until cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry.

Haymaker
 • ¾ oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • 1 oz. DeKuyper® Triple Sec
 • ¾ oz. dry vermouth
 • ¾ oz. lime juice

Combine in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon or lime twist.

French 95.

French 95
 • ¾ oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • ¾ oz. simple syrup
 • ½ oz. fresh lemon juice
 • 1 oz. fresh orange juice
 • Champagne

Combine all but champagne in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a champagne flute. Top off with champagne.

Bourbon Daisy
 • 2 oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • 1 oz. lemon juice
 • 1/2 tsp. grenadine syrup
 • 1/2 tsp. superfine sugar
 • 1 slice orange
 • 1 maraschino cherry

Combine in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

Apple Manhattan
 • 2 oz. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Whisky
 • 1 oz. DeKuyper® Pucker® Sour Apple Schnapps

Combine in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a fresh slice of apple.

This is the ULTIMATE summer cocktail. Simple, to the point, no fuss or muss required. Another favorite is the 'Mark and Stormy" a mix of Makers Mark, Ginger Beer, and lime - so refreshing!
