Its summer time and the living is easy. So, let's keep all this entertaining stress free. Don't worry it's a snap or actually a phone call and a credit card number away. We are living in party central after all. The Hamptons is equipped for entertaining. You can hire a party planner to handle everything for you or you can do some of the work yourself and hire the professionals for the finishing touches.
There are plenty of specialty food markets that you can call and in a snap arrange a formal sit down dinner or lavish clambake on the beach. There are lots of pieces that go into a great party - the tent, waitresses and bartenders, valet car parkers, and disk jockeys to entertain your guests. Keep in mind live music is always fun and with one phone call you can also get a fabulous band to play until the wee small hours of the morning. If you are going this route, make sure you invite your neighbors. They won't be complaining about the noise at midnight if they are at the party.
Everyone seems so much more relaxed after a day at the beach. What better way to have a great informal, impromptu get together than to have family and friends gather in the evening? You fire up your grill, throw on a steak or some chicken, and make a salad with farm stand fresh produce.
Eastern Long Island is home to some of the best corn on the cob in the Northeast. We also have the best tomatoes and fresh lettuce anywhere. Cucumbers, radishes and beets are also on the stands. Do not overlook the fresh fruit and melons either.
Some peach orchards will let you pick your own peaches if you are an adventurer or a purist. If you are in a hurry, just grab a basket from the farm stand. You can do a lot of one stop shopping at a farm stand these days. Bring home fresh fruits, vegetables and local baked goods all in one fell swoop. You can also grab a bouquet of freshly picked flowers to make a great centerpiece for your casual table.
If it's just too hot to cook, get great take out food at the local fish markets. Order clams on the half shell or a platter of shrimp. Splurge and get some lobster salad too.
Do not underestimate the power of raw veggies and some low calorie dip. If you have a juicer, and a fresh juice recipe book you can make some great pure juice drinks that are delicious and nutritious. Apple carrot juice for one, is loaded with nutrients, and is good for your skin and your eyesight. It will intrigue your guests also.
We have it all right at our fingertips, great food, great wine, great place to party. The key to it all is to enjoy yourself while you entertain. Its summer time and the living is easy. So relax. You are living in a party town. Have fun. Eat, drink and be merry.
