The Sign Out Front: Good Eats Ahead (Christopher Beninati) |
Walking into Bay Burger it was clear that the warm and cozy décor just makes you feel like summer year round, with its color tones of blue and white, and the air perfumed with the smells of fresh ground meat, and warm buttery rolls, as well as the chatter of hungry patrons. There are many seats inside and even some outdoor seating but they go fast as everyone must form a line to place their order. Obviously, it is all about the burgers here with many options to make yrou burger to your liking such as various cheeses, bacon, onions, tomato, mayo, and much more.
The best option for me was a hamburger topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on a homemade bun. The first bite was something revolutionary as the components of each fresh ingredient blended together so well that it truly morphed itself into the perfect burger. Most problems that are imposed on hamburgers are the bun but not this one; the homemade bun is still warm and buttery, and is the perfect pal for the Grade A fresh patty of beef. The cheese was draped over the patty to add extra creaminess and along with the mayo blended deliciously. The lettuce and tomato made for a nice cold crunch adding perfect balance to the meal.
On the side were perfectly fried tots, which were golden brown and added the right amount of crunch to the meal, get them loaded with crumbled bacon and cheese for an extra $2.50. Although the burger is the star of the show here there are many great menu items including a buffalo chicken sandwich that is the right amount of heat and high quality with its all white meat chicken breast. They also have a classic fish sandwich with fresh cod and homemade tarter sauce, a falafel with tahini sauce and even a veggie burger with black beans and roasted vegetables. The menu also boosts classics such as grilled cheese, a scrumptious looking BLT and an all-beef kosher hotdog.
