Jedediah Hawkins Inn Hosts Slow Food Wine Dinner

Jedediah Hawkins Inn (400 South Jamesport Avenue, Jamesport, 631-722-2900) is hosting a four-course slow food wine dinner on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 6 p.m. The pre-paid event costs $60 for members and $70 for non-members.

Almoncello's Executive Chef Jason Weiner at Loaves & Fishes Cookshop

Almoncello's (290 Montauk Hwy., East Hampton, 631-329- 6700) executive chef Jason Weiner will be giving a cooking demonstration on Saturday, Mar. 15 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Loaves & Fishes in Bridgehampton. Stonewalls Restaurant Presents Easter Sunday Feast

Stonewalls Restaurant (967 Reeves Avenue, Riverhead, 631-506-0777) presents an Easter Sunday prix fixe menu on Mar. 23 beginning at 12 noon. Cost of the dinner is $45 per person.

Easter Brunch With The Easter Bunny At East Wind

East Wind (5720 Route 25A, Wading River, 631-929-6585) will offer Easter Sunday brunch with a visit from the Easter bunny on Mar. 23 in the Grand Ballroom from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $37.95 for adults, $19.95 for children ages two to 10-years-old, and those under two are free.

Chris Miller Leads Long Island's First Wine Certification Courses

Wine expert Chris Miller (1 Kennedy Drive, East Quogue, 516-639-3085) will lead Long Island's first certification courses for wine captains and advanced sommeliers beginning Mar. 24 at the Viking Cooking School at Loaves and Fishes Cookshop (835 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, 516-877-1010).

The certification courses are the first of their kind offered on Long Island by Miller, in his role as co-founder of The Sommelier Wine Academy, a new provider of professional level wine courses on Long Island and in Westchester. The other co-founder, Lawrence LaManna, a 30-year industry veteran, will serve as co-tutor. Though enthusiasts, wine shop owners and those who must travel east from New York City are welcome, the courses are designed with Long Island restaurants in mind. Those businesses located in Nassau County and western Suffolk County will benefit from deepening their staffs wine savvy to compete with Manhattan counterparts.

The Certified Wine Captains Course runs for 16 weeks each Monday beginning Mar. 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The tuition is $995. An understanding of important wine countries and wine regions of the world will be gained by up to 30 students with $10,000 benchmark wines used to illustrate regional character. Beyond tasting techniques, there are insights to wine list development, fine wine service and wine law. This course is a prerequisite to attending the Certified Advanced Sommelier Course.

The Certified Advanced Sommelier Course runs for 10 weeks each Monday beginning Mar. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The tuition is $1295. Limited to 15 students who will taste $10,000 of world-class quality wine selections, this course addresses important topics about the main grape varietals and wine styles by geography in advanced depth. The Certified Advanced Sommelier Course or similar level certification is a prerequisite to this course. Alternatively, an entrance exam will be offered.
