Legends Brings Back International Style Tapas!
Legends Restaurant (835 First Street, New Suffolk, 631-734-5123, www.legends-restaurant.com) has brought back their International Style Tapas menu for dinner Sunday through Thursday. Tapas are small flavorful dishes that are popular in Spain's social and cultural lifestyle. Diners may try tapas to experiment with more exotic dishes or enjoy tapas as a prelude to dinner in addition to specially priced tapas-sized wines in three glasses for $4.50. The special menu includes Spanish style tapas in addition to an international array of small dishes, some of which are featured on the regular menu as a larger appetizer or entrée. The tapas menu will not be available on holidays. The regular dinner menu is also available. Legends restaurant is open seven days beginning at noon.
New Dessert Items at Rowdy Hall
Pastry Chef Molly Harding of Rowdy Hall (10 Main St. in the Parrish Mews, East Hampton, 631-324-8555) has added some new dessert items to the dessert menu. The new dessert items include: Warm Sticky Toffee Gingerbread with whipped cream and candied ginger at $6.50, Caramel Apple Tapioca Pudding with toasted almonds at $6, and Bananas Foster with bananas, cinnamon-rum caramel and vanilla ice cream at $7. Rowdy Hall is open for lunch seven days from noon to 3:30 p.m., for dinner Sunday-Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday-Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
New Specialty Cocktails at Matto
Matto (109 North Main Street, East Hampton, 631-329-0200) has introduced some new specialty cocktails. All cocktails are $12 each. The cocktails include: Cosmo Azzurro with Absolut Citron, blue Curacao,
Cointreau, white cranberry and a splash of lime; Espresso Cioccolato with Absolut Vanilla, Starbucks coffee liqueur, Godiva chocolate liqueur and fresh ground espresso; Lampone Lust with Stoli Raspberry, Dkypr Razzmatazz, and a splash of sweet and sour; and Negroni Classic with Bombay Sapphire, Compari and Sweet Vermouth. Matto is open for Brunch on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will be open for dinner Tuesday-Sunday starting at 5 p.m.
Spring Wine Appreciation Courses With Chris Miller
Wine expert Chris Miller (516-639-3085 or www.chrismillerwines.com), will lead courses in wine appreciation on Long Island beginning Jan. 31.
Held at the Suffolk County Community College's Culinary Arts & Hospitality Center (20 East Main Street, Riverhead, 631-548-2502), the 14-hour primer runs for seven weeks each Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., from Jan. 31 to Apr. 3, and Apr. 17 to May 29. Tuition is $80 per section, or $450 for the entire course.
The course is the first of its kind offered on Long Island by Miller in his role as co-founder of The Sommelier Wine Academy, a new provider of professional level wine courses on Long Island and in Westchester. He designed this course to give students a basic understanding of the main grape varietals and wine styles. Beyond tasting techniques, wine basics and viticulture, the course covers traditional whites, aromatic whites, cool climate reds, big and warm climate reds, and sparking and sweet wines.
