By sharing a meal with your loved one on Valentine’s Day, you can also spread the love across the East End. On February 14th, Insatiable Eats Co-Founder Chef Marco Barrila – who also co-founded Citizens 4 Humanity – will be whipping up extravagant four course meals for two, complete with a wine pairing and prosecco, and even a tablescape. For each dinner package purchased, a meal will be donated to a local family in need through Citizens 4 Humanity. If a more low-key Valentine’s Day is in store, the organization is also raising funds for its Valentine’s Day mission.
“Chef Marco Barrila was born in Sicily, Italy. Life began when he was a young boy and creating his own signature dishes. Being from a family of bakers, butchers and chefs, Marco became enlightened that food brought joy to his family and neighbors… thus fulfilling his destiny,” Evelyne Ramasami, a PR pro who received assistance from Citizens 4 Humanity and now hopes to pay it forward, explained. “Master Chef Barrila has been on Chopped, owned Manna restaurant, and currently owns Shinnecock Lobster Factory and Insatiable Eats Catering. During the pandemic, Marco felt a calling to serve others, like he’s always…”
Ramasami continued, “He and his wife are founders of Citizens 4 Humanity where they help the disenfranchised, less fortunate, battered women, single moms and children, senior citizens and at times the homeless.”
The Valentine’s Day dinner package will commence with a Roasted Beet Salad, followed by Lobster Ravioli, and then Crab Stuffed Lobster and Herb Grilled New York Strip Steak. The evening will culminate with a Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée and Flourless Chocolate Soufflé. There will be a wine pairing to compliment dishes, as well as prosecco. To enhance the ambience, candles and flowers – in a collectors La Musa vase imported directly from Sicily – will be provided. Dietary and substitutions are available by request.
“Life during COVID is very hard and during these unprecedented times, we all need to open up our hearts and help on a more humanitarian level. Citizens 4 Humanity allows the East End community a way to do this,” she noted. “Many local families are struggling just to meet the basic necessities including food. Chef Barrila has created a multi-course Valentine’s Day dinner package that allows you to ‘Share the Love.'”
Citizens 4 Humanity provides assistance to East End individuals or families who are in crisis, with a focus on single mom families. Proceeds raised go towards purchasing provisions, which are then cooked by chefs and volunteers, packaged and delivered directly to the doors of those in need.
“My goal is to bring awareness to this local organization that has an amazing network of volunteers,” she said. “By ordering this package, your purchase provides a complete holiday meal to a local family in need.”
