Hamptons Eats: What’s New And What’s Gone

It may seem early to start thinking about where you'll be dining this summer, but as the season nears, the East End restaurant scene always gets a good shakeup, where we learn what's gone for good and what our new favorites will be.

Looking to grab a locally made brew with friends? Your time to have one at 40 Bowden Square in Southampton is limited. The Southampton Publick House, which has been serving up award-winning microbrews there since 1996, announced that it's leaving its current location and will reopen at another spot nearby. No word yet on where or when that will happen and it's rumored that a Mexican restaurant will replace it.

Zach Erdem, the owner of 75 Main, is expanding his Hamptons reach this season. According to Page Six, he's taking over the Southampton venue where Nammos Estiatorio was located and will also run 125 Tuckahoe Lane in Southampton, the nightclub that was most recently occupied by 1Oak, which will not return for a third season.

Fresh Hamptons in Bridgehampton, the farm-to-table restaurant led by Chef Todd Jacobs, has closed its doors for the final time.

Hamptons newbie Winston's Bar & Grill, which took over Nichol's in East Hampton, is calling it quits after just one season. It's reported that The Service Station, which will specialize in American fare, will replace Winston's.

Doppio, the Italian eatery on Main Street in Sag Harbor, is also not returning this year.

Ciao by the Beach in Montauk will be replaced by Arbor, a new restaurant that will focus on fresh, local and homemade food and reportedly be open next month.

Goldberg's has good news for East End carb lovers, as Wainscott is getting a Goldberg's Famous Bagels. They will take over the Twice Upon a Bagel location.

In more morning news, Jack's Stir Brew is opening another East End spot in the former Juicy Naam space at 51 Division Street in Sag Harbor.

Jean-Georges Vongerichten is taking over the restaurant at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, which was opened by Tom Colicchio in 2012, but the "Top Chef" judge parted ways with the Hamptons establishment in 2014.

Dave's Grill in Montauk will be moving from 468 West Lake Drive to 467 East Lake Drive, which was previously Fishbar.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didn’t change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
