On Sunday, September 27th from 4 to 7 p.m., Slow Food East End is holding its Annual Meeting and Potluck Supper at Havens Barn at the Shelter Island Historical Society. The event is Slow Food's largest potluck supper of the year, and also serves as an opportunity to "meet the candidates" for Slow Food East End's board, as well as learn more about Slow Food's events, educational programs and future progressions.

"Slow Food members and friends care about the local farming community, animal welfare, the joy of a shared meal, preserving food culture, protecting the environment and avoiding GMOs," noted Anne Howard, Membership Chair of Slow Food East End. "Our Annual Meeting offers you an opportunity to connect with like-minded people over a delicious potluck meal."

Attendees are asked to bring at least one dish and a local beverage to share during the "Snail Supper." Each dish should serve 6 to 8 people, and feature local ingredients like items from the garden, CSA, or local farm stand or market.

The Annual Potluck Supper is free and open to all, but advance reservations are required.

Slow Food is a non-profit, member-supported organization that advocates for healthy food produced with minimal damage to the environment. The East End Chapter, which covers both the North and South Forks, is part of the global Slow Food network of over 100,000 members in more than 150 countries.

Shelter Island Historical Society is located at 16 South Ferry Road in Shelter Island. For more information, visit slowfoodeastend.org.
