Southampton Publick House Brings Octoberfest to Eastern Long Island Executives and Suffolk Community College Culinary Arts Students

Southampton Publick House (40 Bowden Sq., Southampton, NY [631] 283-2800) will team up with the Eastern Long Island Executives Business Roundtable (ELIE) and Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) for a traditional Octoberfest Beer Dinner on Monday, October 1st at the Peconic Building located at the SCCC Eastern Campus (121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead, NY). A networking reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and the evening's program to follow from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Non-ELIE members are invited to come to one meeting at the member price of $30.

Autumn ales from Southampton Publick House brewing arm, Southampton Ales & Lagers, will be paired with particular courses and may also be used in the preparation of menu items. October beers likely to be featured include: Octoberfest Lager, Pumpkin Ale, Munich Style Golden Lager (Southampton Lager), and Secret Ales (altbier, Dusseldorf style). The gourmet fare, created by SCCC Culinary Arts students, is yet to be determined.

ELIE is an active organization, which has been dedicated to the promotion of business on the East End of Long Island for over 30 years. New Fall Menu at Michael Anthony's Food Bar!

Michael Anthony's Food Bar (2925 North Wading River Rd., Wading River, NY 11792 [631] 929-8800) is now serving their new fall menu. Some of the menu items include:
Acorn squash galette, Gnocchi Pomodoro, Three Cheese Tortoloni, Braised Short Ribs, and Wasabi Glazed Salmon

Events and Specials at Wildthyme Restaurant & Bar

Wildthyme Restaurant and Bar (129 Noyac Road, Southampton, NY, 11968 [631] 204-0007) hosts Monday night football starting at 7:30 p.m. Fans may enjoy complimentary appetizers at the bar while watching the game. The free appetizer menu items include fried calamari, chile con carne, and quesadillas with marinated shrimp, Monterey jack cheese and avocados.

They now offer a prix fixe menu for steak-lovers. This special promotion gives diners a choice of soup or salad for the first course and a choice of sirloin, porterhouse or prime rib for an entrée. The cost is $24.95 per person plus tax and gratuity and is offered every Monday all night long.

Wildthyme is also presenting a special four-course Australian wine dinner on Sunday, October 7th, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The cost of this "Australian Adventure" down under is $80 per person plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required.

New Prix Fixe at Matto

Matto (109 North Main Street, East Hampton, (631) 329-0200) is now offering a two-course prixe fixe, Sunday – Thursday all night and Saturday and Sunday till 6:30 p.m. The cost of the prix fixe is $21.95 plus beverages, tax and gratuity. Matto is now open for Lunch on Saturdays from 12 – 4 p.m. and Sundays 1 – 5 p.m. and will be open for dinner Monday – Sunday starting at 5 p.m.

New Fall Menu items at Tierra Mar!

Terra Mar (231 Dune Rd., Westhampton Beach, 288-2700) is now serving their new fall menu. Some of the menu items include: Lightly curried local organic pumpkin soup with crème fraiche and anise toast, Lobster-Miso soup with organic Wakme, Long Island Free Range Duck Terrine with Red Onion-Apricot marmalade, Warm poached oysters with organic leek fondue, oven roasted local brussel sprouts, and Local organic raspberry tart with vanilla pastry cream.

The Beacon Sets Autumn Hours

The Beacon (8 West Water Street, Sag Harbor [631] 725-7088) will keep its doors open through the middle of October with new hours. In September, The Beacon is open for weekend lunches from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and for dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 6 p.m. In October, until the 14th, dinner will be served Friday through Sunday from 6 p.m. The Beacon will then be closed officially until May 2008 but will open for private events. The menu prepared by Executive Chef Sam McCleland features appetizers that range in price from $8-$12 and entrées from $16-$24. Fall menu items include osso bucco, guava baby back ribs and loin of lamb with white beans and local arugula.

Fresno Announces Fall Hours and Specials

Fresno (8 Fresno Place, East Hampton, NY [631] 324-8700, www.fresnorestaurant.com) will continue to serve dinner throughout the fall starting at 5:30 p.m. six nights a week, closing Tuesday. The traditional Cannonball Prix Fixe, a $25 two-course prix fixe including appetizer and entrée, is available Sunday through Thursday all night, Friday and Saturday until 6:32 p.m., and every night at the bar excluding holiday weekends. The a la carte menu prepared by Executive Chef Gretchen Menser features appetizers that range in price from $9-$14 and entrées from $16-$36.

Red/Bar Brasserie Autumn Hours and Specials

Red/Bar Brasserie (210 Hampton Road, Southampton, NY, [631] 283-0704) will be open for dinner from 6 p.m. six nights a week, closing Tuesday. The menu prepared by Executive Chef Erik Nodeland features appetizers that range in price from $9-$16 and entrées from $27-$38. Among the fall menu items are Berkshire pork shank, foie gras terrine and roast Long Island duck.
