While most of Montauk is pretty quiet during the winter, the town sure knows how to host a parade. Host of the second largest St. Patrick's Day parade in New York, Montauk draws approximately 40,000 parade spectators annually. This year the 51st Annual St. Patrick's Day parade falls on St. Patrick's Day which is Sunday, March 17, 2013. Montauk School Superintendent
Jack Perna has been named Grand Marshal of the parade in a unanimous decision by the
Montauk Friends of Erin.
The festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. on the green where the
Montauk Chamber of Commerce will be serving hot clam chowder made and donated by local restaurants. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. starting at Edgemere Road and turning on to Main Street finishing at the end of Main Street by IGA.
