Once again, Sag Harbor Cinema is joining forces with eBay to host a fundraising campaign to champion the Cinema’s restoration efforts.
“With $912 million raised to-date on eBay for Charity, eBay is one of the world’s most powerful fundraising platforms, connecting shoppers to the causes and charities they care about the most,” said Brenda Halkias, General Manager of eBay for Charity. “Previously, our community raised over $86,000 dollars for Sag Harbor Cinema’s restoration. This year we continue to support the rebuild of this iconic institution by leveraging our platform for good and delivering one-of-a-kind experiences and items, with all proceeds benefiting the Sag Harbor Cinema Restoration Project to help ensure an important piece of Long Island’s history is open for visitors and residents to experience in the future.”
The auction, which ends on September 4th, features more than 60 works of art by internationally known artists like Ross Bleckner, David Salle, Eric Fischl, Cindy Sherman, Laurie Simmons, and local Hamptons artists, as well as amazing one-of-a-kind experiences, such as Opening Night New York Film Festival tickets with Martin Scorsese at the world premiere of The Irishman, a Yoga Shanti private yoga class with Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman, Nicole Miller fashion show tickets and lunch in the showroom, a Walk-Through on the High Line with Board President Robert Hammond, a Fern Mallis talk at 92Y with Billy Porter and signed copy of Fashion Icon, lunch with Carl Bernstein, Wicked tickets and a backstage tour, golf foursomes (The Bridge, The Atlantic, The National), SNL tickets from Lorne Michaels, two tickets (floor seats) for Billy Joel on September 27 at MSG, shopping at Urban Zen and LoveShackFancy, San Miguel de Allende vacation and more.
Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center is also raising funds during a village-wide “Tumbleweed Tuesday” celebration at Page Restaurant (63 Main Street, Sag Harbor) on Tuesday, September 3 from 5 to 10 p.m, with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. The “Tumbleweed Tuesday” gathering will feature a silent auction boasting items from many local merchants, including a $100 gift basket of Sag Harbor Cinema swag from The Wharf Shop, a brand-new $1000 13″ MacBook Air with Retina Display offered by GeekHampton, and much more.
The evening will also include a chance to preview the auction art at Laura Grenning, Sara Nightingale (26 Main Street, Sag Harbor) and Julie Keyes Galleries (56 Main Street, Sag Harbor) on September 3 from 2 to 8 p.m.
Additionally, there will be a special reception at Sylvester & Co. (103 Main Street, Sag Harbor) in celebration of Sag Noir, a striking photographic portfolio of the Cinema captured by Don Lenzer, from 5 to 7 p.m. Lenzer will be in attendance at the wine reception from 5 to 7 p.m.
After being out of commission following a devastating fire in 2016, the Cinema hopes to re-open by Christmas.
