The Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE) will host its 11th Annual Family Fair, which will embrace a “Farmyard Fun” theme, on Saturday, July 20.
This year’s theme was inspired by the East End’s rich agricultural tradition. During this exciting fair – perfect for a family outing – CMEE will present a variety of farm themed crafts, performances, water slides, pony rides, bouncy houses, music and food.
“This year’s Fair is a celebration of farmers and farming on the East End, which is also reflected in the Museum’s exhibitions,” Stephen Long, Children’s Museum of the East End President, noted. “Event proceeds enable CMEE educators to provide vital programming year-round to low-income families who otherwise couldn’t afford to visit the Museum.”
The Museum was founded by a group of eight mothers in 1997. As one of the most visited museums on the East End, this 7,000 square feet institution was designed by Lee Skolnick Architecture and Design Partnership. CMEE’s mission, “to spark imagination and foster learning for children of all backgrounds and abilities and to build strong connections within the East End community by providing playful experiences.”
All proceeds will go to the Children’s Museum, allowing them to make a difference in the lives of underserved families in Eastern Long Island. Along with welcoming 75,000 museum-goers each year, CMEE is joining forces with Long Island Head Start, Sepa Mujer, The Retreat, and several other local social service organizations to tackle vital community issues, like literacy, early childhood education, and domestic violence.
“This summer for example, we’ve opened a ‘popup’ Museum at the Head Start Center in Riverside for local families in the community,” Long added.
So, make sure you bring your family to this extraordinary annual fair, in order to help support a great cause.
The 11th Annual Family Fair will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with VIP Access at 9:30 a.m. Admission starts at $100 for children and $150 for adults.
