The Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons will once again present its beloved Annual Greek Festival this July.
“The Festival’s great!” Father Alexander Karloutsos told us. “It has amazing homemade food, made right here by our volunteers.”
Taking place Thursday, July 12 through Sunday, July 15, the annual festival promises exceptional food, drink, dance, raffles and games for children in the true spirit of “filoxenia” or hospitality.
The grill will cook up classic Greek dishes such as gyros, loukaniko, souvlaki, lamb shanks, moussaka, pastitsio, spanakopita and much more. Pastries will include baklava, diples, galaktoboureko, and many more. Beer, wine, Bellinis as well as iced tea and soda will also be served.
There will be over $50,000 in cash and prizes offered – with first prize being a 2018 Fiat 124 Spider Convertible, second prize offering a seven night vacation in Athens, Greece and third prize is a week stay in St. Martin.
An indoor and outdoor marketplace will include vendors in Greek delicacies, gifts, books, art, and jewelry. Additionally, the Hamptons Hellenic Dancers will hold several performances and there will be carnival rides and bouncy houses for the kids.
“It’s fun for the entire family,” Father Karloutsos added. “It’s a huge volunteer effort and we’re just glad everyone enjoys it.”
Festival hours are from 4 to 11 p.m., except for Sunday when the Festival will be open from 12 to 9 p.m.
