Montauk Chamber of Commerce
is offering nearly a month of holiday merriment, starting with the 41st Annual Run for Fun/Turkey Trot.
"The Chamber is always delighted that its businesses and attractions enhance holiday weekends with things to do for the community and visitors," explained Laraine Creegan, executive director of the Chamber. "We're also fired up that the Lighthouse is lighting up once again!"
Before you stuff yourself with delicious seasonal favorites, fit in a little exercise during the 41st Annual Run for Fun/Turkey Trot, sponsored by East Hampton Town's Dept. of Parks and Recreation, on Thursday, November 23. Check-in will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Village Green and participants can choose from a 3 or 6-mile course. The entry fee is $10 in advance (ends Wednesday, November 22) and $15 on the day of.
Saturday, November 25 will feature a jam-packed schedule of joviality. The Montauk Community Church Christmas Fair kicks things off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will find baked goods, new and used toys, handmade items and other gifts. Santa will make a special appearance at 11 am. The Montauk Library will present its Holiday Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with gift books, art books, cookbooks, children's books, decorations, jewelry and much more. The Montauk Chamber of Commerce will host a Family Holiday Fun Day at Montauk Yacht Club
from 12 to 2 pm. During the event, youth can revel in good cheer as they work on holiday crafts and tree ornaments, sip on cider, and nosh on cookies. Admission is free. The final holiday happening of the day will feature the return of the Annual Lighting of The Lighthouse. The highly anticipated gathering will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, November 26. The joyous affair will include holiday music and caroling, an appearance from Santa, and free parking and admission to the lighthouse grounds. For those unable to make the lighting, the Lighthouse will remain lit through January 1, 2018, with a special guest turning on the lights each night.
On Sunday, November 26, it's Christmas at the Lighthouse. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the seasonal extravaganza will feature pony rides for young children, a meet and greet with Kris Kringle, hot cider and snacks, free admission to the lighthouse and more. The rain date is Sunday, December 3.
The "Starbrite" Storefront Lighting will wrap up official holiday activities. Montauk businesses will be gussied up with holiday decorations and prizes for best traditional, whimsical, display of Montauk and brightes will be awarded. The contest will begin around 5 p.m.
