Hamptons Kids Halloween Monster Mashes, Frights, Workshops, And A Penguin Costume Parade

Leading up to Halloween, there will be plenty of spooky and not so frightful Hamptons happenings for children.

You'll encounter whimsical, fun, and educational characters on Quogue Wildlife Refuge's (3 Old Country Road, Quogue, quoguewildliferefuge.org) Enchanted Forest Trail, which will be open on Saturday, October 21, Saturday, October 28, and Sunday, October 29 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. The costume friendly happening will include games and activities, and a traverse through the mythical path. Reservations are required and admission is $10.

Stages' Frankenstein Follies will celebrate its 23rd year at Bay Street Theater (1 Bay Street, Sag Harbor, www.stagesworkshop.org) this October. From Friday, October 27 through Sunday, October 29, the children's theater workshop will reintroduce audiences to all your favorite monsters and ghouls during a Halloween-themed musical review directed and choreographed by Helene Leonard. Performances will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Long Island Aquarium (431 East Main Street, Riverhead, www.longislandaquarium.com) is hosting its Bats, Barnacles & Broomsticks - Halloween Party on Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The all-day soiree will include games, music, vendors, trick or treating throughout the Aquarium and a Penguin Costume Parade. Admission is included with the Aquarium entry fee.

Sylvester Manor Educational Farm (80 N Ferry Road, Shelter Island, www.sylvestermanor.org) will present Mysteries of the Manor on Saturday, October 28 from 12 to 3 p.m. The afternoon will include frightfully good excitement for all ages, including ghoulish games, creepy crafts, a freaky photobooooth, face painting, and farm animals, and costumes highly encouraged. Admission ranges from free to $5.

Ladies' Village Improvement Society's (95 Main Street, East Hampton, lvis.org) Halloween Party will take place on Saturday, October 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. The spooky entertainment will include games, music and goodie bags for the trick or treaters.

Southampton Youth Bureau and Southampton Youth Services (SYS) will be hosting a "Fright Night" at SYS (1370a Majors Path, Southampton, www.southamptontownny.gov) on Saturday, October 28. Family friendly hours (for children 11 years and under) will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Youth ages 12 and up will be permitted to enter without parental supervision from 8 to 11 p.m. Admission is free.

While Camp SoulGrow unfortunately had to cancel its Haunted House at the Lighthouse this year due to a lack of financial support, they'll still be hosting a Hamptons Halloween soiree. On Saturday, October 28, from 6 to 8 p.m., bring little ones to The Camp SoulGrow Studio (7 The Plaza, Montauk, www.campsoulgrow.org) for a Camp SoulGrow Halloween Monster Mash. Admission is free.

Montauk Library (871 Montauk Highway, Montauk, www.montauklibrary.org) is inviting little ones to join Cheryl Frey Richards on Sunday, October 29 at 2 p.m. to mix up a blob of slimy muck, which they will use to sculpt into a terrifying or friendly monster that they can take home. Admission is free, but registration is required.

Did your teen decide on the day of that they actually did want to dress up? Don't sweat it because Hampton Library (2478 Main Street, Bridgehampton, www.hamptonlibrary.org) is hosting a Last Minute Costume Creator Teen Program on Halloween from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Once they're satisfied with their trick-or-treating treats on Tuesday, October 31, head back to Hampton Library from 6 to 8 p.m. for Blindfolded Pumpkin Painting. Supplies, refreshments, and snacks will be provided and admission is free, but registration is requested.
