This October, East Hampton Healthcare Foundation and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital are joining forces to address the wellbeing of the East End community by co-sponsoring a complimentary Health Fair at the Montauk Library on Friday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We’re pleased to kick-off our series of fall—spring community health fairs,” shared Sheila Rogers, Executive Director of the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation. “Through these free events, the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation, in partnership with Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, provides access to health screenings and educational information for a variety of healthcare resources and services, which is very important to the community—especially those who do not have access to regular medical care.”
Attendees can partake in a wide variety of free health screenings, including cholesterol, blood pressure, colorectal, as well as schedule appointments for no-cost mammogram and pap tests (for uninsured women over the age of 40).
For those interested in attending a free Health Fair, but unable to make this event, there will be many more in the upcoming months. “Our October health fair will be in Montauk this year; the other monthly fairs, from November through March, will be held in East Hampton at the Most Holy Trinity School—generally on the first Friday of each month,” added Rogers.
Additionally, representatives from health insurance organizations, Medicare, the Town of East Hampton Human Services department, the YMCA, and The Retreat will be on site to provide guidance and answer questions and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/Food Stamps) information and applications will be provided. Fairgoers can also chat with a nutrition educator and find some inner Zen during the stress relief circle.
All are welcome and healthy refreshments will be served.
