Ecological Culture Initiative Looking For Input From Community During Summer Forum
The Ecological Culture Initiative, a Hampton Bays-based non-profit that curates environmental programing and field projects in conjunction with local groups, cultural institutions, and the government, will host an "Ask ECI Community Forum" at the Hampton Bays Public Library this summer.
During this event on Thursday, August 3 at 7 p.m. community members are encouraged to exchange ideas and information regarding agroecology, passive solar architecture, pollinator gardens, rainwater collection systems and much more.
"The goal of ECI forum is to create a dialogue amongst residents that moves our community toward resiliency - looking to the cultural identity we love and the ecosystem that surrounds us," explained Marc Fasanella, PhD Art / Environmental Design, Education Director at Ecological Culture Initiative. "We have assembled a group of committed local experts to answer questions and participate in a dialog that strengthens our ability to sustain our way of life."
Those interested in voicing their opinion are advised to register in advance with their discussion topic, but walk in attendees are also welcome.
"We want to know what you love about this place, what you see for its future and how we can help be a part of sustaining the unique environment and culture we enjoy!" Fasanella added.
Additionally, ECI will host an Organic Farm-to-Table Heritage Gardens Dinner at St. Joseph's Villa in Hampton Bays on Saturday, September 9.
Admission to the "Ask ECI Community Forum" is a suggested donation of $5, but any contributions are appreciated.
