This April, runners from across the globe will lace up their sneakers and race through Bridgehampton and Sagaponack Village during the highly anticipated Bridgehampton Half-Marathon. Launched in 2014, the Bridgehampton Half serves as a kick off for the East End running season. Organized by the teams behind the Hamptons Marathon & Half, in partnership with the founders of the Fall Foliage Half-Marathon and the acclaimed Memorial Day Marathon Races in the Berkshires, the flat and fast course offers picturesque views of impressive Hamptons estates, beautiful local beaches, potato fields and idyllic horse farms.
The event attracts over 1,000 participants annually, and this year’s race will once again support longtime Hamptons Marathon & Half beneficiary Southampton Hospital, who has received almost $300,000 from race proceeds over the years.
“Southampton Hospital is very grateful for the ongoing support of the Bridgehampton Half and the Hamptons Marathon & Half,” shared Robert Chaloner, Hospital President & CEO. “Their generous donations have helped us continue to provide high-quality medical care and services for all of our East End communities.”
The Hospital will also serve as a sponsor of the Bridgehampton Half, and after finishing the strenuous course, runners can reward themselves post-race with a blissful message from one of the Hospital’s Licensed Massage Therapists. Additionally, a team of Southampton Hospital medical students will be on site to ensure the safety of participants.
“The Hamptons Marathon is proud to support Southampton Hospital’s wellness initiative to encourage people to embrace fitness and a healthy lifestyle,” added Hamptons Marathon co-organizers Diane Weinberger and Amanda Moszkowski, who founded the race back in 2005. “The community can help us further the Hospital’s mission by joining us as a volunteer or a runner.”
The 2017 Bridgehampton Half-Marathon will feature an exciting new gold standard ChronoTrack Systems™ D-Tag™, a single-use RFID tag that participants will remove from their bib and stick on their sneaker to track their time.
Online registration for the Bridgehampton Half ends on Saturday, April 15th, and race day registration will not be available. The Bridgehampton Half-Marathon will take place on Saturday, April 29th.
