Fighting Chance, a free-of-charge cancer counseling center that is based in Sag Harbor, has announced that after nine months of revisions, it has launched its re-designed website, just in time for the charity's 15th anniversary. The new website's goal is to make the community service more expansive and helpful for patients using their site.
"Cancer...Now What?" - a question that many may ponder is now prominently displayed on the homepage, which also features links to three responsive resource modules - free counseling, free education, and free support. Clicking on "free counseling," for instance, leads to a page that directs the visitor to a Fighting Chance office, offering next-day visits with oncology social workers or clinical psychologists. Clicking on "free education" directs you to a Resource Directory providing tips and strategies for those on their road to recovery. The "free support" shows options for various events to help those suffering, such as financial grants, free Hampton Jitney tickets, and complimentary yoga classes.
"Apart from the East End of Long Island, there is nowhere else in America, to our knowledge, with a regionally-focused and free-of-charge cancer counseling charity that has become an integral part of the region's healthcare system with no cost to the taxpayer," said Duncan Darrow, Founder and Chairman of Fighting Chance. "Not every new charity - no matter how well intentioned - lasts for 15 years, so 2017 is a milestone we'd like to celebrate the entire year, and we intend to have special events almost every month."
Fighting Chance, which serves 250 newly diagnosed patients each year, is America's oldest and largest complimentary cancer counseling center that operates on a regional basis. The 501c3 charity provides clients with in-person counseling and a counseling support system that has over 75 years of experience.
