FRNCA, The Flanders, Riverside, Northampton Community Association, will host its 3rd Annual 5K Scholarship Walk/Run and Chinese Auction on Sunday, December 11th at Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club in Westhampton Beach.
The race will begin at 10 a.m. – rain or shine – and is open to runners and walkers of all ages. It starts and ends at Hampton Hills Golf and Country Club. The top male and female overall, and top three male and female in the 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 and up, and top wheelchair/handicap racer categories will be awarded prizes.
“Each year, FRNCA awards scholarships to college bound residents from the three hamlets,” noted Ronald Fisher. “Last year, we raised enough money to award $2,500 in scholarships.”
FRNCA’s mission is to “unite the three hamlet communities of Flanders, Riverside and Northampton, promote and advance the social relations within the three hamlet communities and with its neighboring communities, encourage and invite active participation by the various organized cultural, civic, charitable, groups and associations currently active and existing within the three hamlet communities, improve services within the three hamlet communities, secure benefits and civic improvements for the betterment of the three hamlet communities, as may be deemed essential, obtain economic advantages for the benefit of the residents, businesses, homeowners, taxpayers, and their families within the three hamlet communities as a whole, engage in activities that will advance the interests of this organization and its members within the three hamlet communities, engage in cultural, civic, legislative, political, educational, charitable, welfare, social, and other activities that further the interests of this Association and its membership and engage in such other activities as may be deemed to be advantageous in bringing together residents, businesses, homeowners, taxpayers, and their families within the three hamlet communities.”
“Five $500 scholarships were given out this past June 2016 to five students who reside in either Flanders, Riverside or Northampton Hamlets,” added Patty Hopkins. “All seniors in high school or students already attending college living in one of the three hamlets, are eligible. The students fills out an application for our committee to review.”
Check-in will take place between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is available at itsyourrace.com for $20. The registration fee on the day of the race is $30.
