From Tuesday, November 1st through Wednesday, November 16th, the children’s room at the Hampton Library will be the home of a very special holiday season endeavor – the Bridgehampton-based Library’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, “Give Thanks, Give Back.” Participants may visit the Library and collect a “feather” from Drumstick, the Library’s Thanksgiving turkey. Each feather will contain a different holiday season item that is needed. The plucker must then purchase the item that was written on the feather and return to the Library with the donation. In doing so, they will help provide a complete and traditional Thanksgiving for those who cannot do it on their own.
“Drumstick the turkey is back at the Hampton Library and his feathers are full of things we need to help those in need,” explained Josh Perry, Head Youth Services Librarian. “Stop by the Joyce Goldman Children’s Room and pluck a feather from Drumstick and bring in the item written on it.”
This event is free, and the library welcomes all willing to attend and give back to the community.
“Together we hope to be able to make Thanksgiving special for everyone,” added Perry. “Donations can be dropped off in the children’s room.”
