Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) will welcome a new executive director this October. Jerry Rosenthal will take over the position after running the Monmouth County SPCA for 4 years. While he was there, he was key in campaigning to build a Pet Food Pantry and Quarantine Building for their shelter. His presence at MCSPCA was enormous – as he strove to better the facilities and adoption programs they offered.
Rosenthal carries many years of service to animal welfare, serving for the past 15 years in various roles. He also brings years of experience in senior marketing, lending, and administrative roles in the financial services industry, giving him an edge and expertise to run SASF.
“What attracted me to SASF was its story – how a committed group of individuals in this community stepped in and took over a municipal shelter and turned it into one of the most respected animal welfare organizations in the region,” he said. “I look forward to building on its success to provide more animals a forever home and to be the community resource for the promotion of responsible pet ownership.”
Rosenthal graduated from Haverford College with a BA in History and also earned an MBA from Columbia University. He currently serves on the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Deans Advisory Council at the UC Davis Veterinary School and the State Council for HSUS. He comes to SASF with expertise in many fields, which will provide the shelter with a solid executive director, and hopefully he will bring his many success in the animal welfare to the East End.
The SASF community is excited and pleased to have Jerry on their team as they strive to better the animal community and hope to bring this shelter to a new high under his leadership. “The Board of Directors of the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation and the entire staff are extremely pleased to welcome Jerry Rosenthal as executive director of the shelter,” expressed SASF Board President Jonathan McCann. “Jerry with his extensive background in animal welfare will take our leading community shelter to an even higher level.”
