Taking care of yourself and making sure that your numbers are normal during regular checkups is essential for your health - yet for underserved members of the community, access to those vital services may be difficult to obtain, if not inaccessible.
On Friday, October 7th, East Hampton Healthcare Foundation is sponsoring a free community Health Fair at Most Holy Trinity School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"There are many in our community who still do not have access to regular medical care," noted Sheila Rogers, Executive Director of the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation. "Through our series of free community health fairs, the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation in partnership with Southampton Hospital
, is able to provide free health screenings, flu shots and access to a variety of East End healthcare resources and services."
With flu season nearly here, attendees can receive a free flu shot. Additionally, a multitude of complimentary health screenings will be offered, including cholesterol, blood pressure, HIV, and colorectal. Fairgoers can also make an appointment for no-cost mammogram and pap tests.
"Southampton Hospital is always pleased to participate in the East Hampton Healthcare Foundation's Health Fair," added Robert S. Chaloner
, President and CEO, Southampton Hospital. "The flu shots and cholesterol screenings that we are making available that day are key to good health, so we are hoping for a good turnout on October 7."
Along with the screenings, representatives from SEPA Mujer (services for the advancement of Latina immigrant women), HRHCare, Medicare, and other health insurance plans will be on-site to address community members' questions and concerns. The Town of East Hampton Human Services and The Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing will also be represented.
