The Great Hamptons Rubber Duckie Race To Bring Fierce Yet Friendly Competition To The East End

On Saturday, September 17th, rubber duckies will be leaving the bathtub to headline the Hampton Bays Civic Association's Fifth Annual Hampton Bays Family Fun Day and Rubber Duckie Race at CowFish in Hampton Bays.

The afternoon's pièce de résistance - the Rubber Duckie Race - will have Shinnecock Bay dotted with the adorable brightly colored, lovable species. In the end, challengers should hope that they'll be serenading their plastic partner with lyrics from Ernie's (yes, as in Ernie of Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street) ode to his bath companion, Rubber Duckie.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in addition to the friendly competition, attendees can jump sky high in the Bouncy House, learn about the animals that call the Quogue Wildlife Center home and interact with the wildlife, stop by the Art Table to get their creative juices flowing - drawing supplies and papers for artwork and origami will be available - and it's also where competitors will come up with the theme for their prized racing ducks and finalize their vision, have their mind blown as a magician enchants the crowd, alter their appearance with a fun design at the face painting station, take an educational boat tour with the Peconic Bay Keeper, listen to live music from Charles Certain and Certain Moves, support Hampton Bays Civic Association by bidding on items featured in Granny's Attic Chinese Auction (which showcases "gently used" items such as kitchenware, artwork, tools, linens, books, toys, games, and more) or the Silent Auction, take a chance on the "Year of Fine Dining" Raffle Drawing, and, since it's all about the duck, help decide who was the master artist by voting for the best Decorated Duck.

Year after year, attendees exclaim, "WOW!!! My family had a great day!" notes Hampton Bays Civic Association Vice President, Maria Hults.

Since watching the exciting race and enjoying all the Family Fun Day activities can be exhausting, guests can take a break to refuel with specially priced Grilled Cowfish burgers, hotdogs, and veggie plate, free soft drinks, half price adult beverages, cotton candy, snow cones and more.

Admission is $5 for individuals and $15 for families. The entry fee for the Rubber Duckie Race - which includes the purchase of a "Purebred Racing Rubber Duckie" - is $50. Attendees will receive a wristband so they can come and go as they please. As parking at Cowfish is limited, attendees should park at the Hampton Bays High School (88 Argonne Road East, Hampton Bays), and the Rumba bus will shuttle them to CowFish for free.

Hampton Bays Civic Association is committed "to promoting the prosperity, welfare and civic advancement of the community of Hampton Bays by united effort and action in every possible lawful manner."
