Sag Harbor’s very own Bay Street Theater is looking for vibrant and capable community members to join their Volunteer Team. The Theater is responsible for bringing arts and entertainment to the Eastern End of Long Island and they couldn’t do it year-round without their incredible volunteers.
Bay Street Theater is a year-round, not-for-profit professional theater. It strives to innovate, educate, and entertain a diverse community through performing arts.
“Bay Street Theater is fortunate to have nearly 300 dedicated volunteers in our volunteer family. Some of our volunteers have been with us for all 25 years and some just joined us this season,” remarked Samantha Young, Senior Marketing Coordinator of Bay Street Theater. “As the theater’s artistic, educational and event programming has grown, so has the need for volunteer involvement to help support these programs. What was once a need for volunteers during our summer theater season is now a year round need as, with the busy programming, our seasons merge into one another.”
Volunteer ushers are responsible for distributing programs to the audience, checking tickets, directing audience members to their seats and assisting in navigating the theater. Volunteers will also assist in subscriptions and raffle sales.
“Volunteering is a fun and exciting way to get more involved at our theater. Volunteer opportunities at Bay Street include: ushering, assisting with special events, helping with mailings and administrative tasks, raffles sales, assisting at our annual Gala,” said Young. “With such broad range of tasks available to our volunteers, you are sure to find something to appeal to whatever ability or interest you bring to the table.”
There are perks to this job, as well! All ushers will be treated to complimentary seating to the show(s) and are often welcome to attend invited dress rehearsals.
The perfect ushers will have a zest and passion for quality entertainment and enjoy being around people.
“We hope you’ll consider volunteering and becoming a member of our expanding family. We truly appreciate the work that our volunteers do and could not celebrate our many great successes without also celebrating our many great volunteers,” said Young.
Bay Street Theater is located at 1 Bay Street in Sag Harbor. For more information, email the theater’s volunteer coordinator, Barbara Oldak at [email protected] or fill out the online volunteer form at www.baystreet.org.
