For many, the weeks leading up to the New Year are a time for reflection. Before the holidays come to a close, countless resolutions are made, with the hopes of accomplishing them by the end of the following year. If supporting the community and local causes is one of yours, here's an entertaining way to jump-start your pledges.

On Friday, January 1st, kick 2016 off right by submerging yourself in the somewhat above average Atlantic Ocean waters as part of the East Hampton Hurricanes Swim Team's 14th Annual Polar Bear Plunge. At 1 p.m., meet at Main Beach in East Hampton for a quick dip that supports locals in need. The community event is organized by the East Hampton Ocean Rescue Squad, sponsored by YMCA East Hampton RECenter and benefits the East Hampton Food Pantry, who serves over 300 families weekly.

"The YMCA East Hampton Hurricanes Swim Team has been involved in the Polar Bear Plunge since 2003 as a part of a team bonding and community outreach project," noted Andrey Trigubovich, who is a Hurricanes Swim Coach. "Parents and swimmers donate their service, food, beverage and spirit to help support local charities, this year the East Hampton Food Pantry."

Like the Human Resources of the Hamptons' Polar Bear Plunge which took place at Coopers Beach in Southampton earlier this month, attendees are encouraged to come in character. Prizes will even be awarded for the best costumes.

Daring ocean dashers can warm up post plunge with coffee, hot chocolate, chili, hot dogs and soup during a Survivor's Celebration.

Plungers must collect at least $30 to participate. Registration will take place the day of the event and participants must be registered by 12:30 p.m.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
