On Saturday, September 19th, Sylvester Manor Educational Farm, along with the Shinnecock community, is holding a special tribute to The Three Sisters (sustainably grown corn, beans and squash), ingredients that were the staple of the Algonkin diet.

From 12 to 3 p.m., attendees will enjoy cooking demonstrations, tastings, self-guided grounds tours, song, dance, and honor drumming during the interactive traditional festival of thanks. At 1:30 p.m., Sylvester Manor will welcome author, Medicine Woman, and historian of the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut, Melissa Tantaquidgeon Zobel, who will read from her latest book, Wabanaki Blues. Zobel, who has served as her tribe's cultural leader for twenty-two years, grew up leading tours at Tantaquidgeon Indian Museum on the Mohegan Reservation, where she studied tribal tradition from her great aunt, Medicine Woman Gladys Tantaquidgeon.

Admission is $15 for adults and free for those 18-years-old and under.

Sylvester Manor is located at 80 North Ferry Road in Shelter Island. For more information, call 631-749-0626 or visit sylvestermanor.org.
