On Saturday, August 15th, the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) teamed up with NBC for Clear the Shelters, a national pet adoption event.
“We are grateful to NBC and their staff for making this a banner adoption day for our shelter,” expressed Patricia Gray, Executive Director of SASF.
Clear the Shelters helped 14 SASF dogs and 6 SASF cats find their forever homes, with 10 more applications pending. 38 animal shelters in the Tri-State area took part in the inaugural event and over 300 shelters across the country joined in on the efforts, offering free adoptions for the day.
NBC viewers could watch the success stories and results live throughout the day’s broadcasts.
Each SASF adoptee was given a special gift from NBC, a blue “Clear the Shelters” bandanna. Once adopted, the animal shelter documented the joyous moment with a family photo.
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is located at 102 Old Riverhead Road West in Hampton Bays. For more information, call 631-728-7387 or visit www.southamptonanimalshelter.com.
