Starting Tuesday, August 4th, Coastal Team Challenge participants will embark on a 22-mile, two-day kayak trip. The 2nd annual event will once again feature able-bodied athletes and developmentally-disabled and physically-challenged athletes (with 11 coaches, 11 athletes on 2-person kayaks).
Attendees will meet for the first leg of the race (12 nautical miles) on Tuesday, August 4th at 7 a.m. at the Westhampton Beach Marina. Participants will depart from the Westhampton Beach Marina at 8 a.m., rest at Pike Beach at 9:30 a.m., and stop again at Smith
Point County Park at 12:45 p.m., which is the final destination for the day. Dinner will be held at Smith Point County Park at 4 p.m.

The final 8 nautical miles on Wednesday, August 5th will kickoff from Smith Point County Park at 10 a.m. Challengers will rest at John Boyle Island at 11 a.m. and at Bellport Bay Yacht Club at 1 p.m. The Coastal Team Challenge will culminate at the Patchogue Beach Club (16 Maiden Lane, Patchogue) at 4 p.m. Attendees will celebrate their impressive accomplishment during an after-party pig roast from 4 to 6 p.m. The festivity will feature Long Island's "Hot Peaz & Butter," who will perform the best of Motown, Funk and Soul.
For more than 20 years, World T.E.A.M Sports, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, has used athletics to challenge disabled men, women and children to accomplish goals they never dreamt were possible. World T.E.A.M Sports changes lives through sports, and has organized events for disabled and able bodied citizens, including mountain climbing, white water rafting, bicycling, and more.
