Scrabblers and Words with Friends fans get ready to bring it during the Hampton Bays Middle School Scrabble Club’s 5th Annual Scrabble “FUN”Raiser tournament. On Sunday, March 15th at 12 p.m., leave no tile behind as you carefully strategize and make each move.
During the afternoon, teams of two, which can be two students (4th grade or older), two adults or a combination, will go up against three different teams, so consider your partner wisely. Single players will be matched with a teammate. For a competitive advantage, pre-register and you’ll receive special word lists as well as playing tips. Also make sure to have a few extra dollars on hand, because competitors will be able to buy a vowel, pay to sneak a peek at the word list or get a tip from an expert for a small fee.
The 5th Annual Scrabble “FUN”Raiser tournament is open to the East End community. Admission is $15 per person/$30 per team pre-registered or $20 per person/$40 per team at door and the entry fee includes lunch. Pre-registration forms are available in the front office of the Hampton Bays Elementary, Middle and High Schools, and you can sign up at the door or pre-register with Kathy Hummel at 631-872-8434.
Proceeds from the Scrabble “FUN”Raiser will support the Hampton Bays Middle School Scrabble Club’s trip to the 2015 National School Scrabble Championship in Pawtucket, RI.
