The Agawam Ferry Company and Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley are hosting a 200th birthday bash for Pyrrhus Concer as part of Southampton SeptemberFest on Saturday, September 27, 2014. During the event, The Company will formally dedicate the ferry vessel in Concer's honor.

Concer, a Southampton born slave in 1814, overcame slavery to live a life of great achievement. Today the Village recognizes him as an important figure in the Town's history. The Agawam Ferry ceremony is a tribute to Concer and his contributions to Southampton town.

"We wanted to do something that would serve the community as well as honor a great man," said Nicholas Palumbo, a member of the team running the ferry. "The Agawam Ferry Project promotes history, community and preservation - cornerstones of what Southampton stands for."

Members of the Agawam Ferry Company steering committee include Nick Palumbo, Josh Belury, Mark Parash, Kevin Luss, Sean Hattrick, Ed Simioni, Nancy Kane and Lynn Mara.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Agawam Park in Southampton. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, The Agawam Ferry Company is offering complimentary rides.

Agawam Park is located at 23 Main Street in Southampton. For more information, visit www.agawamferry.org.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
