On Friday, October 3, and Saturday, October 4, the Old Southampton Burying Ground is getting an update during a Historic Burying Ground Adult Workshop sponsored by the Town of Southampton and Office of the Town Clerk, Sundy A. Schermeyer, with support from the Historic Division and the Southampton Historical Museum and Research Center.

Under the direction of professional stone conservator Joel Snodgrass, participants will remove failed repairs and reassemble broken fragments. Admission is free and all attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing.

Through this workshop, the Old Southampton Burying Ground will work to preserve the remains and monuments of the town's earliest residents and historic settlers. All of the burying lots are preserved and maintained as sacred sites within the Town, including the notable headstones of the Howell and Herrick families.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days.

The Old Southampton Burying Ground is located at 205 Little Plains Road in Southampton Village. For more information, call 631-287-5740 or visit www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org.

Many years ago, I found a tiny grave marker in that burying ground that read, "Our hopes died with thee." A chilling memorial.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
