Over 500 people crowded the East Hampton Library to celebrate the grand opening of their new children’s wing on Saturday, June 21, 2014. In attendance at the ceremony and ribbon cutting, was actor Alec Baldwin who donated $1.275 million to the construction of the library which features a modern “Baldwin Family Lecture Room.”
Attendees at the ceremony also enjoyed refreshments, entertainment by the East Hampton Middle School’s all-girl chorus and a first glance at the new facility. Special items from the Library were also placed into a time capsule, which will be unveiled at a later time. Speeches were given by the Library’s Board of Managers and elected public officials and the winners of the library’s writing and drawing contests were also announced.
