"Athletic Director Foley is wholeheartedly a Shark," said Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Shaun L. McKay. "He is an excellent teacher, first and then an awesome coach, second."

Kevin Foley of Blue Point, serves as the Head Coach of Suffolk County Community College's Women's Basketball Team as well as the Suffolk Athletic Director. Between his high school and college coaching careers, he has now surpassed 400 career wins, and while at Suffolk Community College, his teams have won more than 20 games throughout eight different seasons. While under Foley's direction, his teams have never had a losing record. This season concluded with a result of 17-7, leaving the Suffolk Women as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region XV's number two team.

Foley has been in charge of Suffolk's Women's team for 22 years, and brought them to the playoffs 20 years in a row. The Suffolk Community College Sharks have an overall record of 395-122, and in that time have competed in 13 semi-finals, won six regional championships as well as a national title.

"He is not only a great, winning coach, but just as importantly Coach Foley leads by example with his upbeat attitude, the first ingredient of success in basketball and in life," noted President McKay. Teams under Foley's lead have won 10 regional sportsmanship awards, and more than 41 of his former athletes went on to compete at four year Division II and III Universities.

His passion for basketball began in Seton Hall High School where he was coached by the legendary Frank Leyden and scored an average of 30 points per game during his senior year. He later attended Seton Hall University on a scholarship where he was named captain of the Men's Basketball Team from 1968-1969, averaging over 14 points per game. In 1994, Foley was inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame. In 2002, Foley was awarded The National Sportsmanship Award, and in 2003 he was voted National Coach of the Year.

In addition to his outstanding coaching and athletics accomplishments, Foley is a professor of Health and Human Services at Suffolk Community College.
