The Marine Education Foundation is holding a benefit presentation, “Oceans Matter,” on Wednesday, November 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Montauk Library. “‘Oceans Matter’ is a project of exhibits and presentations that create awareness, encourage the conservation and preservation of Marine Life and habitats,” said Marine Education Foundation Founding Director, Stephanie Whiston. The exhibit includes journeys to more than 50 countries as well as several oceans.
The project was originally presented to Springs and East Hampton school students last September at Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton, and is currently available to the Montauk Schools students at the Montauk Public Library.
Marine Education Foundation’s primary mission is to motive Ocean Literacy throughout the general public. They hope the development of educational multimedia exhibits and presentations will create awareness, and encourage the conservation and preservation of Marine Life and habitats, especially for critically endangered species which may become extinct in our lifetime.
“Ocean Matter” will be on display through Tuesday, November 26. A new exhibit will then run Sunday, January 26 to Friday, February 7, at Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton.
The Montauk Library is located at 871 Montauk Highway in Montauk. For more information about the Marine Education Foundation visit marineeducationfoundation.org.
