It was announced that on Sunday, August 21, 2005 the Entertainers Basketball Classic (EBC) will be celebrating its 25th anniversary with a doubleheader celebrity and all-star basketball extravaganza and mini-concert event at Madison Square Garden. This will be the first charity event that Gregory Marius, CEO of Entertainers Basketball Classic, has organized at the "World's Most Famous Arena".
The EBC, the famous basketball tournament that has operated out of Holcombe Rucker Memorial Park the last 20 years, is celebrating 25 years of the most exciting basketball in New York City. Allen Iverson , Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury, Baron Davis,
Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter , Kenyon Martin and over 30 more of the NBA's best have played in the tournament. Music superstars
P. Diddy, Jay Z, Fat Joe, Irv Gotti, Jermaine Dupree and
Alicia Keys have been involved with this league either as players or team owners. The tournament has also attracted fans from all over the world as well as celebrity figures such as Commissioner of the NBA,
David Stern, former President
Bill Clinton, President of NBA Entertainment, Adam Silver, Academy Award winner
Denzel Washington and actor Mike Rappaport.
Streetballers Hot Sauce, Bone Collector, White Chocolate and Alimoe will compete with the NBA's Rafer (Skip to my Lou) Alston, Jamal Tinsely, Sebastian Telfair, JR Smith and Dante Jones in what is shaping-up to be an entertaining All-Star game. While Celebrity game players include DJ Clue of Desert Storm and MTV, Lil' Wayne of Cash Money, Fabolous, Jadakiss and Styles P of D-Block. Additional players for both games will be named at a later date.
As its charitable effort, EBC Foundation, Inc./YES, Inc. will be presenting six (6) candidates with a Gremar Scholarship Award. The EBC Foundation is also offering record and entertainment companies the opportunity to sponsor underprivileged children from the surrounding boroughs to come to the world-renown Madison Square Garden for a night of basketball and music they won't soon forget.
